Sashti is a significant day dedicated to Lord Muruga or Subramanya in Hinduism. It is celebrated on the sixth day after the new moon or full moon in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June-July) and the month of Kartik (October-November). The day is observed by fasting, performing puja and reciting hymns in praise of Lord Muruga.
