Panchami” is a Sanskrit word that literally means “fifth”. It is often used in Hinduism to refer to the fifth day of the waxing or waning phase of the moon in the lunar calendar.
In some Hindu traditions, Panchami is considered an auspicious day, particularly when it falls on certain months or during certain festivals. For example, during the Navaratri festival, the fifth day of the waxing and waning moon phases are celebrated as “Skandamata Pujan” and “Sri Lalita Panchami” respectively.
Panchami is also the name of a Hindu goddess, who is considered one of the nine forms of the goddess Durga. She is associated with knowledge, learning, and wisdom.
